Certification and council rules in Randwick

Randwick's coastal suburbs get salt air within a few streets of the beach, and salt is a compliance issue rather than just a maintenance one. Gate latches and self-closing hinges corrode measurably faster near the coast, and a worn self-closer is the most common single reason a barrier fails re-inspection. On a three-year cycle that failure usually develops well inside the window.
