What drives the price in Cairns
- From $25,000 for a plunge or compact fibreglass pool installed.
- Full-size fibreglass $45,000–$85,000 · concrete $65,000–$110,000.
- Excavation is the biggest local variable — soil and slope, not the shell.
- Most quotes exclude fencing, paving and landscaping. Get that in writing.
- Approval runs 3–10 weeks before anything is dug.

Certification and council rules in Cairns
Cairns combines year-round swimming weather with a cyclone season running roughly November to April, and cyclone exposure is a barrier issue: wind damage to fences and gates is common, and a gate that no longer self-closes after a storm leaves the pool non-compliant immediately, not at the next inspection. The high proportion of holiday letting also matters, because leasing triggers the Queensland certificate requirement with each new tenancy.
