Certification and council rules in Knox
Knox runs up toward the Dandenongs, so blocks get progressively steeper and more treed toward the east. Slope means effective barrier height is measured from the higher ground and retaining walls near a barrier count as climbable structures. Significant tree controls can require an arborist assessment before a pool application is determined. Bushfire-prone mapping covers much of eastern Knox as well, and that frequently pushes a pool application out of any fast-track pathway into full assessment, adding weeks before excavation can begin.

The Building Regulations 2018 require registration with your council. Council notifies you in writing of the date your next certificate of barrier compliance is due, and the certificate must be lodged within 30 days of the inspector issuing it. Victoria's building regulator is now the Building and Plumbing Commission; older guidance still says Victorian Building Authority. Full VIC guide →
