Sunshine Coast pool prices are published at about $43,000–$85,000 installed for fibreglass and $52,000–$110,000 for concrete by one 2026 cost guide, and plunge pools at $25,000–$70,000 by a local plunge pool installer. The short answer

  • Pools Sunshine Coast prices are vendor figures. One cost guide gives fibreglass $43,000–$85,000 and concrete $52,000–$110,000 across two tables on the same page; we found no independent survey.

  • Sunshine Coast Council charges $145 to lodge a private certifier's documents online, $590 for its own pool safety inspection and certificate, and $550 for a pool fence exemption.
  • The QBCC premium on a $40,000 plunge pool is $471.75, and the deposit is capped at 5%, or $2,000.
  • Unitywater caps backwash to sewer at 0.5 litres a second, and no longer accepts new pool overflows to sewer unless there is no safe alternative.

Pools Sunshine Coast prices: what is published

Every Sunshine Coast pool price we found was published by a business that sells pools or pool leads. Queensland does not regulate pool prices. Read on 6 October 2026:

  • A national lead-generation cost guide (October 2026) gives fibreglass at $43,000–$81,000 in its summary and $45,000–$85,000 in its table, and concrete at $52,000–$105,000 and $55,000–$110,000. It puts rock, slope and tight access at +$19,000–$57,000.
  • The same guide gives almost identical ranges for Perth and the Gold Coast, including $24,000–$43,000 for a plunge pool in all three. Treat it as a national figure with a city name on it.

The full-size pool numbers on the Sunshine Coast are thin, and we are not padding them. What the Sunshine Coast does publish in detail is the plunge pool market and the Council's and Unitywater's charges, which follow.

The quotable version: no published Sunshine Coast pool price is independent, so the only number worth comparing is the one on three written quotes for your own block. Why a pool quote is higher than the advertised price shows what the headline figures leave out.

Plunge pools Sunshine Coast prices

A Sunshine Coast plunge pool installer (published 28 January 2026) puts its most affordable option at $35,000–$45,000 including construction and installation, and lists by type:

Plunge pool typePublished range (vendor)Lifespan it publishes
Precast concrete$35,000–$65,00030–50 years
Fibreglass$25,000–$55,00020–30 years
Vinyl liner$25,000–$35,0006–10 years for the liner
One premium precast range$40,000–$70,000, about $50,000 on average—

At the bottom of the market, a maker of modular stainless steel plunge pools lists its Sunshine Coast prices from $14,390 for a basic above-ground model and $19,140 for its standard range (3.2m wide, 1.30m high), and offers shipping and installation. The page does not say whether installation is included in those figures. It also says a building permit may not be required for a prebuilt pool. Sunshine Coast Council's position is that pools able to hold more than 300mm of water must meet the Queensland pool safety standard, and that you need building certification before you start a new pool or spa. Ask a certifier in writing before relying on the seller's view.

The quotable version: on the Sunshine Coast, the same installer says a fibreglass plunge pool can land in the mid-$30,000s for one homeowner and near $60,000 for another, and the difference is rarely the pool; it is the site. Size guidance is on what size a plunge pool is, and how to compare plunge pool quotes shows what to line up.

What Sunshine Coast Council charges, against the Gold Coast and Brisbane

The table at the top of this page compares the three councils' 2026–27 schedules line by line. For a pool lodged on its own, the Sunshine Coast lodgement fee is the highest of the three, at $145 online against $81 on the Gold Coast and $78.80 in Brisbane. Its pool fence exemption fee is the lowest, at $550 against $1,566 on the Gold Coast.

Sunshine Coast Council also lists $980 for a concurrence agency referral or building work associated with a dwelling house, the fee category that applies when a certifier has to refer building work on a house lot to Council, for example to vary a siting rule. Ask your certifier whether your pool's position needs one before you sign.

Worked on a $40,000 plunge pool holding 14,000 litres (4 × 2.5 × 1.4m), the set costs are: QBCC premium $471.75, Council lodgement $145, and water $60.26–$71.22, a total of $677.01–$687.97. The deposit is capped at $2,000. If your household is under Unitywater's wastewater cap of 740 litres a day, wastewater usage could add up to $10.11.

The quotable version: on a Sunshine Coast plunge pool, Council, the QBCC and Unitywater together charge under $700; the remaining $39,300 or so is what you are comparing. The QBCC's premium and deposit rules are explained on the Queensland Home Warranty Scheme on a pool.

Unitywater's rules for filling, backwash and pipes

Unitywater supplies water and sewerage on the Sunshine Coast, and three of its rules affect a pool.

  • Water price. For 2026–27 a Sunshine Coast household pays $0.787 per kilolitre up to 822 litres a day and $1.570 above it, plus the State's $3.517 bulk water charge. Filling 50,000 litres therefore costs $215.20 to $254.35 depending on the tier.
  • Backwash. Unitywater's domestic pool wastewater policy (revision 10, last amended 21 April 2026) accepts backwash and maintenance water to sewer at no more than 0.5 litres a second. A licensed plumber can connect the backwash line to your private sanitary drain without Unitywater's approval; a direct connection to Unitywater's sewer needs its approval.
  • Overflow. Unitywater will not accept new pool overflow water to sewer unless it is satisfied there is no other safe and practical way to manage it. It says this does not require changes to existing pools.

Unitywater also asks you to check that a new pool is not over or too close to its water or sewer pipes before you start.

The quotable version: on the Sunshine Coast, plan where the pool overflows to before the plumber prices the job, because Unitywater no longer wants it in the sewer. National water costs are on the cost to fill a pool with water.

Who approves a pool on the Sunshine Coast?

A building certifier. Sunshine Coast Council says you need building certification before you start a new pool or spa, that temporary fencing must be in place during construction, and that every regulated pool and spa needs a compliant safety fence, including spas with a lockable lid or cover. Council's lodgement fee is charged when the certifier lodges the documents.

Registration, the pool safety certificate and the fence rules are the same across Queensland: see the Queensland pool safety certificate. For the same breakdown further south, see what a pool costs on the Gold Coast and plunge pool cost in Brisbane.

The quotable version: the Sunshine Coast approval route is a certifier and Council's lodgement fee, not a council development application, for an ordinary backyard pool. When you have your block's access and the pipe locations, compare pool quotes or browse pool builders on the Sunshine Coast.
