How much does a pool cost on the Gold Coast?

What a pool costs on the Gold Coast in 2026: the fibreglass and concrete prices local builders and a cost guide publish, and where they disagree; what glass pool fencing costs per metre; and the fixed local costs a quote should already include — the QBCC home warranty premium, the deposit cap, the City of Gold Coast's archiving fee, the referral fee for building near Council pipes and the price of the water to fill it. Every vendor figure is labelled, and the Council and QBCC figures were read at source.

Updated 2026-10-06 13 sources cited

A pool on the Gold Coast is published at about $28,000–$88,000 installed for fibreglass and $45,000–$150,000+ for concrete, all builder or cost-guide figures from 2026. Glass pool fencing adds $200–$785 a metre, depending on who publishes it. The City of Gold Coast's own charges are small: $81 to archive the approval and $5.068 a kilolitre for fill water.

The short answer

  • Published Gold Coast prices are vendor figures and they disagree. Fibreglass runs $28,000–$85,000 by size on one builder's site and $47,000–$88,000 fully installed on another's; concrete $45,000–$150,000+.
  • Glass pool fencing: $200–$785 a metre. A Gold Coast fencing installer publishes $200–$275 semi-frameless and $275–$600+ frameless; a cost guide publishes $295–$785. On 25 metres that is $5,000 to $19,625.
  • The QBCC premium on a $65,000 pool is $650.10, and the deposit is capped at 5%, or $3,250. Both come from the QBCC's own tables.
  • City of Gold Coast charges $81 to archive a private certifier's approval for a pool, $225 if the pool needs a referral for building near Council pipes, and $1,566 for a pool fence exemption application.
  • Filling a 50,000 litre pool costs about $253 at the City's 2026–27 water price of $5.068 a kilolitre, which includes the State's $3.517 bulk water charge.

How much does a pool cost on the Gold Coast?

Every Gold Coast pool price we could find was published by a business that sells pools or pool leads. Queensland does not regulate pool prices and we found no independent survey of the Gold Coast. Read on 6 October 2026:

  • A Gold Coast builder's 2026 price page: fibreglass $28,000–$42,000 for a small 6×3m pool, $42,000–$58,000 for a mid 8×4m and $58,000–$85,000 for 10m and over; concrete $45,000–$65,000, $65,000–$95,000 and $95,000–$150,000+ for the same sizes. It says most family pools land at $65,000–$110,000 fully landscaped.
  • A Gold Coast fibreglass installer: ‘from’ prices of $45,000 for its smallest pools to $65,000 for its largest, while its FAQ on the same page gives $47,000–$88,000 fully installed, including surrounds, fencing, certification and council approval.
  • A national lead-generation cost guide (October 2026): fibreglass $43,000–$82,000 in its summary and $45,000–$85,000 in its table; concrete $62,000–$106,000 and $55,000–$110,000.

The cost guide's Gold Coast ranges are almost the same as the ones it publishes for the Sunshine Coast and Perth: $24,000–$43,000 for a plunge pool in all three. That is a sign the figures are national, not local.

The quotable version: on the Gold Coast, the same fibreglass pool is advertised at a ‘from’ price and at a fully installed price that can be $20,000 higher, sometimes on the same page. Compare quotes on what they include, not the headline. Why a pool quote is higher than the advertised price explains the gap.

Glass pool fencing on the Gold Coast: price per metre

Glass is the fence most Gold Coast buyers price, and it is the line where published figures spread the most:

Who publishes it (read 6 October 2026)Per metre installed25 metres (our arithmetic)
Gold Coast fencing installer, semi-frameless$200–$275$5,000–$6,875
Same installer, frameless$275–$600+$6,875–$15,000
Cost guide, frameless glass$295–$785$7,375–$19,625
Gold Coast builder site, pool fencing of any type$180–$580$4,500–$14,500

The cost guide also publishes a whole 25 metre frameless job at $6,000–$10,000, which is less than its own per-metre rate multiplied out. The installer's 2025 cost table adds $400–$900 for a frameless glass gate and recommends a nano-coating on coastal sites at $300–$600.

The quotable version: on 25 metres of Gold Coast glass pool fencing, the published prices run from $4,500 to $19,625, so a fence quoted as a single lump sum is impossible to compare. Ask for metres, gate count and hardware grade on every quote. The rules the fence has to meet are on pool fencing regulations on the Gold Coast, and the national per-metre detail on pool fence cost in Australia.

The Gold Coast fixed costs, worked on a $65,000 pool

These are the costs you can calculate before anyone quotes, because the QBCC and the City of Gold Coast publish them. Worked on a $65,000 fibreglass pool holding 50,000 litres:

ItemRuleAmount
QBCC home warranty premiumPremium table for swimming pools, insurable value up to $65,000$650.10
Archiving the certifier's approvalNew class 10 work lodged alone, City of Gold Coast 2026–27$81.00
Water to fill50 kL × $5.068$253.40
SubtotalOur arithmetic$984.50
Referral for building near Council pipes, if neededLodged by a private certifier+$225.00
Maximum deposit (not an extra cost)5% of a contract over $20,000$3,250

The QBCC table says any amount over each $1,000 step moves you to the next premium. The certifier's own fee is not set by law and is not in this table; ask for it in writing. The rules behind the premium and the deposit are on the Queensland Home Warranty Scheme on a pool and pool deposit limits and progress payments.

The quotable version: on a $65,000 Gold Coast pool, the costs set by the QBCC and the City come to about $985, under 2% of the price. The money is in the pool, the fence and the site, not the fees.

Canal blocks, sandy ground and Council pipes

The site, not the shell, is what moves a Gold Coast quote. One Gold Coast fibreglass installer describes sandy, sometimes soft ground on canal blocks around Mermaid Waters and Broadbeach Waters, and heavier clay inland toward Coomera, Nerang and the hinterland. It says canal blocks need particular attention to drainage and waterproofing around the shell. A Gold Coast builder site publishes $680–$1,200 for a soil test and site assessment, +$2,800–$8,500 for excavating rock, and +$5,000–$15,000 for narrow or rear-of-block access. These are vendor figures.

One cost the City does publish is for building near its pipes. The City of Gold Coast says most work near its water and sewer pipes is assessed by your building certifier, but some applications must be referred to the City under the Queensland Development Code, part MP 1.4. The fee is $225 when a private certifier refers it, or $900 otherwise. Building inside a Council sewer, stormwater or water easement needs the City's approval, even where the code's standard solutions are met.

The quotable version: on the Gold Coast, check the sewer plan before you pick the pool's position, because a pool over Council pipes adds a referral, a fee and a delay. Our checklist for preparing your block for a pool quote covers access and services, and pool excavation cost explains how rock is priced.

Who approves a pool on the Gold Coast?

A private building certifier, not the City. The City of Gold Coast states that all swimming pools and spas need a building approval to build or demolish and must be registered with the QBCC. The only exceptions are portable wading pools that cannot be filled to 300mm, hold under 2,000 litres and have no filtration system. The certifier then lodges the approval and inspection documents with the City for archiving, which is where the $81 fee comes in.

The barrier rules, the 300mm test for spas and ice baths, and the pool safety certificate you need to sell or lease are on Gold Coast pool fencing regulations and the Queensland pool safety certificate. For the Brisbane equivalent of this page, with clay soils and Urban Utilities' backwash rules, see what a pool costs in Brisbane.

The quotable version: on the Gold Coast, the approval is private and the City's role is archiving, pipes and water. When you know your block's access and where the pipes run, compare pool quotes on the same layout, or browse pool builders on the Gold Coast.
