How much does a pool cost in Griffith?
What a backyard pool costs in Griffith, NSW in 2026: why the only published prices are national, what Griffith City Council charges to certify and inspect a pool after its 2026/27 fee change, what its two-step water tariff makes a fill cost, and how much a Riverina summer evaporates.
A backyard pool in Griffith costs about the national price: one cost guide prints $50,000–$85,000 for fibreglass and $55,000–$110,000 for concrete. As certifier, Griffith City Council charges $1,532.50 to certify a $60,000 pool with two inspections in 2026/27, and a 40 kL fill costs $36.40 to $77.20 of council water.
The short answer
- No Griffith price list exists. A national lead-generation cost guide, read 16 October 2026, prints $50,000–$85,000 for fibreglass and $55,000–$110,000 for concrete; it has no Griffith page.
- Council certification, $60,000 pool: an $800 construction or complying development certificate, $250 per inspection and a $232.50 occupation certificate, $1,532.50 with two inspections.
- The fee more than doubled: the 2025/26 formula, $209 plus 0.3% of the value over $5,000, gave $374 on a $60,000 pool; the 2026/27 fee is a flat $800.
- Griffith's 200 kL rule: council water is 91 cents a kilolitre for the first 200 kL a year and $1.93 after, so a 40 kL fill costs $36.40 or $77.20.
- Five hot months: Griffith Airport averages a maximum of 25°C or more from November to March, peaking at 33.5°C in January.

How much will my pool cost in Griffith?
“Griffith pool cost” searches turn up the public pool's prices and hours as often as backyard pools. For a backyard pool, we found no Griffith builder publishing an installed price we could verify on 16 October 2026, and the most-read lead-generation cost guide has no Griffith page; its national page prints $45,000–$62,000 for a plunge or compact fibreglass pool, $50,000–$85,000 for fibreglass and $55,000–$110,000 for concrete.
What Griffith City Council sets is the certification, the water and the rules. With the council as certifier, a $60,000 pool costs $1,532.50 to certify with two inspections, and a 40 kL fill costs $36.40 or $77.20 depending on the household's use that year. NSW pool rules are state-wide; the Sydney pool cost page sets out the complying development limits, and the Wagga Wagga pool cost page covers the nearest large Riverina council.
The quotable version: a Griffith pool price online is a national figure; Griffith's own share is about $1,530 of council certification and under $80 of water.
What Griffith City Council charges to certify a pool in 2026/27
Griffith's 2026/27 Revenue Policy prices a construction certificate or complying development certificate at a flat $800 for building work worth $5,001 to $100,000, including GST. The 2025/26 fee was $209 plus 0.3% of the value over $5,000, which was $374 on a $60,000 pool, so the same pool now pays more than twice as much. Each inspection of a Class 10 structure is $250, and an occupation certificate for a Class 10 domestic structure is $232.50.
Worked through for a $60,000 pool with two inspections: $800 + 2 × $250 + $232.50 = $1,532.50. The schedule offers 25% off the certificate fee, so $600 instead of $800, if you lodge and pay for the construction certificate with the development application and appoint the council as principal certifier. Private certifiers pay a $43 portal fee for a complying development certificate and set their own prices.
The Griffith certification rule: in 2026/27 any pool from $5,001 to $100,000 pays the same $800 certificate fee, so the number of inspections is what changes the council's bill. Whether your pool needs council approval explains the routes.
The 200 kL step: filling a pool with Griffith water
Griffith City Council is also the water supplier. Its 2026/27 potable tariff is $0.91 a kilolitre for the first 200 kL per meter per year and $1.93 after that, with meters read and bills issued three times a year. A 40 kL fill costs $36.40 inside the first step and $77.20 above it, $40.80 more.
The council's own planning assumption for one home is 480 kL a year, well past the 200 kL step, so many households will pay $1.93 for at least part of the fill. Raw water is also sold at $0.51 a kilolitre, but it is untreated; ask the council before using it in a pool. The council's schedule also lists a $219 water fill fee for swimming pools from hydrants, without saying what volume it covers, and hydrant water at $3.85 a kilolitre. Filling costs in other cities compares tariffs.
How much water will my pool lose in a Griffith summer?
The Bureau of Meteorology's Griffith Airport station averages a maximum of 33.5°C in January, 32.5°C in February, 29.1°C in March, 28.2°C in November and 31.2°C in December, five months at 25°C or more; July averages 14.8°C. The long swimming season comes with evaporation. The Griffith CSIRO station's pan, recorded from 1962 to 1989, averaged 8.7 mm a day in January and 4.8 mm across the year.
For an 8 × 4 m pool (32 m²): 8.7 × 31 × 32 = 8,630 litres in January, and 4.8 × 365 × 32 = 56,064 litres, about 56.1 kL, over a year. At the $1.93 step that year of top-ups costs about $108. Treat it as an upper bound, because a pan evaporates faster than a larger pool and rain replaces some of it. How to reduce pool evaporation shows what a cover saves.
Barrier certificates, portable pools and getting Griffith quotes
Griffith City Council charges $150 for a first barrier inspection and $100 for a later one, set by regulation; a certificate of compliance is valid for three years, and a pool must be on the NSW Swimming Pool Register first. The council's pool page also says portable or inflatable pools holding more than 2,000 litres need its approval. An unapproved pool costs $2,100 for a building information certificate before anything is fixed. See the NSW pool compliance certificate rules.
Ask each quote to name the certifier, the number of inspections and whether the $800 certificate and $232.50 occupation certificate are inside the price, then compare free pool quotes. Pool builders in Griffith lists local coverage.
